Austria - Salzburgerland

Youth Orchestra • Sacred Choir • Secular Choir • Band • Marching Band

  • 4 country tour
  • Compact town centre
  • Great excursion possibilities

Salzburg is probably best known as Mozart’s birthplace, as well as for its magnificent Old Town. The main landmark is the Hohensalzburg fortress which dates back to the Middle Ages and which sits imposingly above the city; it is the largest, most perfectly preserved fortress in Central Europe. Salzburg is a great place to explore on foot.

Concerts

Our excellent contacts in Salzburgerland mean that we can provide marvellous performing opportunities for all group types. Most small towns, such as St Wolfgang and St Gilgen, have covered music pavilions which are suitable for some of the larger symphonic wind bands and even small orchestras. We work closely with some of the picturesque churches in the small Alpine villages, such as Flachau, where a warm welcome is assured. An impromptu recital may be given by choirs with a sacred repertoire in Salzburg cathedral, while the Mirabell Gardens give bands the opportunity to perform in this grand and beautiful city.

Accommodation

We use a number of high quality youth centres in the region. One such is the Markushof in Wagrain. Thanks to substantial investment by the Riepler family, the house (100 beds) boasts high standards of catering and accommodation. It has extensive leisure facilities and is in a quiet location only about a kilometre from the village centre. The rooms are 2-8 bedded (single and bunk beds) and all have shower and toilet. There are a new tuck shop and leaders’ suites.

Festival Ideas

Choirs can take part in the annual Bischofshofener Musiktage, which take place end of July – mid August.
