France - Provence

Bands • Sacred Choir • Secular Choir • Marching Band

  • Wonderful climate
  • Accommodation especially for musicians
  • Many local festivals

Provence is home to the loveliest weather and the most stunning scenery in all of France, with its craggy coastline and multi-hued hills. Our groups stay in the region’s hinterland which is full of romantic associations with art and music and best known for Avignon, with its broken bridge and massive ramparts. To the south lies Arles, a glorious Gallo- Roman city in which Van Gogh lived and worked. Vaison la Romaine itself, where our groups are based, is a glorious town of Roman origin, nestling amid lavender fields and olive groves with impressive remains of an amphitheatre and a beautiful medieval old town.

Concerts

We particularly recommend this part of France for groups who like to perform outdoors. Concerts are usually held in the evenings due to the heat and take place in wide variety of picturesque squares, courtyards and bandstands. Concerts can be held across the region in Avignon, Baux de Provence and St Remy de Provence, as well as in Vaison la Romaine itself. A whole host of festivals are held during the summer months in Provence, in which groups of a high standard are able to take part.

Accommodation

The Moulin de Cesar – A Coeur Joie is a great centre for our groups as it exists specifically to welcome musicians in order to meet, rehearse and give concerts at the centre itself. Set in lovely grounds, the centre can accept 80 people in a combination of 2 and 3-bedded rooms, all with private bathroom. There are plenty of rehearsal rooms of various sizes, as well as pianos and even a harpsichord for your use.

Festival Ideas

The town of Cavaillon holds an annual Melon Festival in the first week of July in which our groups are invited to participate!
