The pretty and historic spa town of Levico Terme lies some half hour’s drive to the south of Trento and a two hour drive to the east of the mighty Lake Garda. Levico, thankfully little known by British tourists, is situated overlooking a beautiful, clear lake, Lake Levico, where swimming is possible at the lido, together with rowing boat and pedalo hire. Levico itself is a compact resort with plenty of ice-cream parlours, pizza restaurants, cafes and several beautiful parks, together with the facilities of the spa centre. Host to our successful Trentino Choral Festival in 2003, Levico really is a gem. For groups wishing to stay in a city environment, we thoroughly recommend the university town of Trento.
Concerts
In Levico Terme, we regularly use the central square, where concerts are held on the specially erected stage and are hosted by the local band. Concerts are also held in the large church as well as the theatre. The nearby lakeside resorts of Calceranica and Caldonazzo offer indoor and outdoor venues and great hospitality. Further afield, we can arrange concerts in the theatre in Brentonico as well as in the lovely towns by Lake Garda. For high quality groups, we can arrange concerts at La Rocca in Garda, a regular professional venue.
Suggested itinerary (choir)Day 1 - Afternoon departure for evening ferry Day Two - Afternoon arrival and remainder of day free to explore Day Three - Morning visit to Trento for shopping and a visit to the castle. Afternoon visit to Lake Garda, with boat trip from Riva del Garda to Limone and time to enjoy the area. Evening concert in Garda. Day Four - Full day visit to Verona. See the Roman amphitheatre and Romeo and Juliet’s balcony. Return to Levico for evening concert in the town’s church Day Five - Full day visit to Padua. Visit the magnificent Scrovegni chapel to see the frescoes. Return to Levico for time by the lake. Evening concert in the church of Lavis Day Six - Morning at leisure in Levico and depart in afternoon for overnight coach journey. Day Seven - Morning ferry and afternoon arrival home. |
Excursions
Trento: capital of the Trentino region. See the mighty castle and cathedral.
Verona: visit the Roman amphitheatre or even see the opera in its spectacular setting; stand on Romeo and Juliet’s balcony.
Lake Garda: dazzling lake surrounded by mountains and pretty resorts; take a boat trip on the lake.
Gardaland: popular theme park.
Accommodation
We use several well-located 3 star hotels in Levico Terme, all of which have good access into the town and to the lake. One such hotel is the lovely Hotel Florida which lies just a short walk from both the lake and the town itself. All rooms have private bathroom and there is a large dining room and lounge area. Groups with a lower budget can stay in nearby Trento, a magnificent medieval city and the region’s capital, where there is a very good, centrally-located modern youth hostel.
