Concert Tours in Netherlands - Valkenburg

Youth Orchestra • Sacred Choir • Secular Choir • Band • Marching Band

  • 4 country tour
  • Compact town centre
  • Great excursion possibilities

Situated on the southern tip of The Netherlands, Valkenburg has been a popular holiday destination since the mid-nineteenth century; indeed it was here that the country’s first tourist office was opened! It is a small, pretty town set amidst undulating countryside. With much of Valkenburg’s centre pedestrianised, students can explore the town without too much close supervision. There is plenty to do in and around Valkenburg: the ruined castle and the town’s caves are well worth visiting, while other activities include swimming pools, bowling and laser games. The town is well placed for trips to Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg, making it possible to perform concerts in more than one country!

Concerts

Valkenburg offers a good variety of concert venues. During the summer, there are plenty of tourists who enjoy the regular concert series which take place on the town’s bandstand and in the impressive open air theatre. Other venues in the town include the Chapel of the Velvet caves, as well as a local school (term-time only) and a retirement home. De Efteling theme park has a beautiful bandstand, while you can easily cross the border into Germany and perform in either sacred or outdoor venues in Aachen. Further afield lies Luxembourg, where you can perform on Europe’s largest bandstand!
