Our French language course in Brittany offers everything a French language teacher could want in order to give pupils a real language-learning experience.

Our Centre and its objectives

The Centre’s aim is to instill pupils with confidence in the French language, by providing them with varied, enjoyable ways in which to practise their French. Each visiting group is given more opportunities than on usual school trips to experience the French language at first hand, through contact with local schools in both structured and social situations, and project work undertaken in the locality. Language lessons can be arranged (at extra cost).

Suitability

Pupils at both Key Stages 3 and 4 will benefit hugely from a course at L’Ancienne Ecole. The Centre’s programme is planned by a fully qualified teacher who has 18 years’ experience teaching French at Key Stages 3 and 4 in a large comprehensive school in Essex. All aspects of the language course at L’Ancienne Ecole adhere to the Programme of Study as outlined in the National Curriculum.

Suggested Itinerary

Day One - Morning ferry from UK and evening arrival at Centre.

Day Two - Morning project work in Pontivy and Josselin. Afternoon visit to the Museum of Breton Resistance.

Day Three - Morning visit to a local school (if not school holidays) followed by project work in Langoelan.

Day Four - Morning excursion to Concarneau. Afternoon project work in Quimper. Evening farewell buffet with presentation of awards for best student work.

Day Five - Morning departure for late afternoon ferry and evening arrival home.

Accommodation
L’Ancienne Ecole a quiet location with plenty of facilitiies for work and play.
Capacity:	54 beds.
Rooms:	Up to 12 bedded dormatory with bathroom on corridor for students, Twin and triple for staff with separate bathroom.
Facilities:	Teaching rooms, lounge, dining room, ample grounds.

All study materials (English/French)
Visit to a local school to meet French students during French term and needs to be organized at least 6 months in advance (suitable for students aged maximum 15 years)
Full use of centre's facilities

These inclusions valid for groups of a minimum of 35 students staying for a minimum of 4 nights.
