Berlin has evolved in recent years from being the symbol of the East/West divide to the place where the two now meet and entwine. Germany’s most recent seat of government offers the young European a close look at the contrast between eastern and western ideologies. Berlin is a unique and fascinating city; the colourful remains of the wall, sites of National Socialist conferences and the Prussian palaces are evidence of just some of the momentous historical events which have taken place in this city. The layers of history combine with the showcase centres of East and West, art, music and entertainment to create a diverse and exciting destination.
