These two resorts make up the lively Europa Sport region, one of the bestknown ski areas in Austria. The high level views are amazing; with a single sweep you can see 30 peaks. Zell am See is an attractive mediaeval market town located on the west bank of Lake Zeller. It is lively, smart and upmarket, with a fine selection of shops, restaurants and bars in the pedestrianised town centre. Kaprun is a traditional mountain hamlet, 2km from the southern end of Lake Zeller, which has been developed into a lively holiday resort. It also offers year round glacier skiing.

The skiing

This area has 130 km of groomed pistes, with 60 lifts and skiing to 3030 m. Your Club Europe lift pass covers skiing from Zell am See and Schüttdorf on the Schmittenhöhe mountain. The Schmittenhöhe (2000m) is round-topped and accessed by lifts and gondolas, with intermediate skiing from the summit and some good ridge runs. It has excellent coverage by snow cannons (60% of the slopes) ensuring good skiing conditions throughout the season. The Zeller Bergbahn is currently undergoing renovation, providing extra-large cabins and transporting skiers to the slopes at an amazing 6ms per second!

Après ski

Both Zell am See and Kaprun are lively. Your personal Ski Rep will gladly help you put together a busy and inexpensive après-ski programme. This can include:

  • Swimming pool visits
  • Bowling
  • Curling
  • Ice-skating
  • Discos
  • Folk evenings
