The lively town of Zell am See lies at the centre of the Europa Sport Region, one of Austria’s best known ski areas. The sophisticated town lies on the majestic Lake Zell and boasts a charming traffic-free centre.

The skiing

This area has 130km of groomed pistes, with 60 lifts and skiing to 3030m. Your Club Europe lift pass covers skiing from Zell am See and Schüttdorf on the chmittenhöhe mountain. The Schmittenhöhe (2000m) is round-topped and accessed by lifts and gondolas, with intermediate skiing from the summit and some good ridge runs. A 10 minute coach ride takes you to the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier with year round skiing. This is great for Easter and 100% snow sure! The Zeller Bergbahn is currently undergoing renovation, providing extra-large cabins and transporting skiers to the slopes at an amazing 6ms per second!

Après ski

The Sport complex in Zell is very popular as it offers an indoor fun pool with slides, ice skating and hosts regular “premier league” Ice hockey matches that have become very popular with our groups. In addition there is curling, a weekly free Ski Show, and great late night shopping.

Jugendheim Haus PecileThis house is in the village of Schüttdorf, at the end of the lake and 3km from the town of Zell am See itself. It is run by the same family as the Kitzsteinhorn. It is very comfortable and welcoming and is ideal for groups wanting sole occupancy. It has a dining room and a games/meeting room. All student rooms (4/6-bedded) have wash basins with access to shared shower/toilet facilities. Most leaders’ rooms (2/3-bedded) have private facilities. The Haus Pecile is 500m from the Areitbahn which is the entry point into the lift complex and is within easy walking distance to the shops in Schüttdorf.
